In this session, we will delve into the critical relationship between reserves and maintenance, exploring how they are interconnected and vital for the long-term sustainability of building operations. A key focus will be on how the new Reserve Study Standards provide a structured framework for understanding and managing these elements more effectively. We will explain how these updated standards not only improve the accuracy and efficiency of reserve planning but also help reduce overall costs rather than increasing them. By adopting these standards, building owners and managers can ensure better financial planning and more effective maintenance practices. Additionally, we will discuss how the public policy recommendations put forward by the Community Associations Institute (CAI) serve as the foundation for these initiatives, offering a solid basis for promoting best practices in reserve studies and maintenance management across the industry.
