Buildings: What They Are…

This webinar explores the fundamental aspects of buildings, starting with the basic question, “What is a building?” Participants will learn about architectural building elevations and plans, essential components in the design and construction process. The importance of building permits and certificates of occupancy (CO) will be discussed, along with an overview of the materials used in buildings and their associated life cycle costs. The aging process of buildings and the role of maintenance in extending their lifespan will be addressed, as well as the significance of reserve studies in building management. The session will also delve into how legislation and financial institutions can impact building operations, and how technology is shaping building evaluation and management practices.

Kipcon’s founder Mitchell H. Frumkin, PE, RS recently cochaired CAI’s recent Public Policy Task Force dealing with Building Maintenance and Structural Integrity and is currently speaking at a number of national programs on the topic of Building Safety.
He previously Chaired the Task Force which developed the National Reserve Study Standards of the Community Association Institute (CAI) as well as the Task Force which developed the Best Practices paper on Transition.
