On February 24th, 2022, CAI-NJ held their annual awards celebration where Kipcon Engineering received the Business Partner of the Year Award. Each year this prestigious award is presented to a Business Partner Member who has contributed significantly to the chapter.

Angela Kavanagh, Chapter Executive officer stated, “We are thrilled to have awarded Kipcon’s team the Business Partner of the Year Award. They have been a genuine supporter of CAI with seemingly endless contributions of time, sponsorships, speaking engagements and extra efforts that directly benefit our association.”

Kipcon’s Legislative Actions in 2021

A little over a year ago, Champlain Towers South condominium in Surfside, FL, collapsed resulting in the deaths of 98 people. A multitude of investigations revealed that construction defects, long-term water infiltration, and years of deferred maintenance may have contributed to the sudden and fatal collapse.

In response to the tragedy, Kipcon has been involved nationally in the development of the CAI Public Policies on Maintenance and Building Inspections, as well as Reserve Studies and Funding. Mitch Frumkin, President of Kipcon, recently gave a webinar on the importance of Reserve Studies, Structural Inspections, and Banking Inspection Requirements.

Kipcon has a long history in supporting CAI-NJ and has been a member for over 2 decades.

For years, Kipcon has taken a leadership role when it comes CAI. The founder of Kipcon, Mitch Frumkin, PE, RS chaired the national task force that developed both the National Reserve Study Standards of the Community Associations Institute and the Reserve Specialist designation (RS). In addition, Kipcon was instrumental in developing the best practices on Transition Studies. Mitch Frumkin, founder of Kipcon explained, “Our business model is geared toward community associations, and we focus on the things that keep buildings safe and allow communities to thrive.”
